How To Get Your Energy Back!

November is National Career Development Month and it’s time to talk about YOUR career.

You’ve likely seen the headlines and heard about “The Great Resignation”, “the big quit” and “quiet quitting”. The numbers are staggering; over four million people are leaving their jobs each month and 87% of people are open to finding better job opportunities.

But as a leadership and career development coach and consultant, I’m not surprised. The stats back up the sentiment I hear from clients every day.

  • 85% of employees worldwide are not engaged at work.

  • 83% of U.S. workers suffer from work-related stress, with 25% saying their job is the number one stressor in their lives.

  • With only 33% of employees thriving in their overall wellbeing, most would say that they don't find their work meaningful, don't think their lives are going well, or don't feel hopeful about their future.

Some are leaving jobs due to toxic company cultures, bad managers, low salaries, and a lack of healthy work-life balance. Others are looking for change – something new or different, greater fulfillment, a chance to give back, start their own thing, or that elusive “something more.”

If you’re considering making a move – or looking to develop your career further, Career Development Month is a great time to take a step back, look at your life and career, and reflect on what’s most important to you and what you really want for your future.

In my newest article on Lifehack, How to Discover Your Next Career Move Amid the Great Resignation, you’ll learn:

  • What’s going on with this seismic shift in careers

  • Why it can be so hard to make a move

  • Five clear and simple steps to take if you’re ready to make a change

I know the path to developing yourself and considering a career shift can come with a lot of fears and what-ifs. It can be terrifying. But you know what’s even scarier? Looking back a year from now – in the same place you are today – wishing you’d done something more to move your life and career in a direction more aligned with your hopes and goals.

I look forward to your thoughts and feedback as you take this opportunity to read, reflect and recharge your career.
